You Don’t Belong directed by Spandan Banerjee.
(75 MINUTES / B/W & COLOUR / ENGLISH SUBTITLES)
SHORT SYNOPSIS:
Myth and memory, folk and copyright, home and migration are the larger narratives emerging from the journey of a song from the margins into the urban mainstream. Travelling across remembered lands and forgotten histories following the unseen path of migration that music takes, You Don’t Belong asks some important questions about the encounter between art and mass production, creation and ownership in a country rich with myriad folk and oral traditions.

SHORT SYNOPSIS:
Sabad Nirantar: Word within the word
Hindi with subtitles (74 mins) (2008)
Director: Rajula Shah
The “wretched of the earth” hold fast the spirit of Bhakti, the Word resonating in and with their lives. As they sing the poetry of Kabir and Gorakhnath they embody, far beyond the scope of any intellectual resolve, a refusal to die, a bid to seize eternity from historic annihilation.
