Born into a musical family, Aarti Ramrao Nayak took to music at the early age of six under the tutelage of her father Ramrao Nayak. Her repertoire includes khayal, thumri, tappa, dadra, natyasangeet and bhajans.

She has a Sangeet Alankar degree from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and has also completed her Masters in Music from SNDT University. She also holds a Post Graduate degree in Commerce.

An All India Radio and Doordarshan artiste, she has received scholarships from Centre for Cultural Resources and Training and Ministry of Culture and several awards from various institutions.

In addition to her vocal performances, she has also lent her voice to film and has acted in many musical theatre productions.
