A disciple of the tabla maestro Samta Prasad of the Benaras Gharana, Partha Sarathi Mukherjee initially trained with his father Ashok Kumar Mukherjee who was also a disciple of Samta Prasad.

Partha Sarathi Mukherjee has toured extensively within India and abroad.  He has performed in major music festivals, both as a solo tabla performer and with a number of artistes, including Budhaditya Mukherjee, Parveen Sultana, Shahid Parvez and Ustad Imrat Khan.  He has also performed with dancers, and with jazz and flamenco artists.  Among further musical involvements, Partha Sarathi has also composed several thematic abstract rhythmic scores for Anurekha Ghosh & Company’s choreographic productions.  He has won tabla competitions organized by Swar Sadhana Mandir, Abhinav Kala Samaj, and All India Radio Music.
